What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
We all know we breathe oxygen to survive, but did you know we need oxygen to help our bodies heal and recover?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves spending time breathing in 97% oxygen in a pressurised space called a ‘chamber’.
Normally we breathe in air which is around 21% oxygen. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy enables greater intake of oxygen, which in turn increases the amount of oxygen in our plasma and speeds up the body’s natural healing processes.
Who is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for?
This therapy has been scientifically proven to help a huge range of people.
From professional sports people to stroke patients, to those with autism and people recovering from traumatic brain injuries. Time in a hyperbaric chamber can help wounds heal quicker, muscles recover faster and inflammations reduce significantly, as well as helping with overall wellbeing.
Recent observations have shown that it can also help combat symptoms of long COVID such as fatigue and ‘brain fog’.
